Staffing / HR
I am excited to share with you that we will be welcoming 2 new staff members to the CSHS Team in 2025. Ms Brodie Hogan will be joining us, after completing her successful practical placement in 2024. Brodie is very excited to be relocating to Charleville and beginning her teaching career with us. We will also be welcoming Mr David Thompson who is transferring to CSHS from Charleville School of Distance Education.
I am currently undertaking a recruitment process to appoint a Deputy Principal as a result of Narelle Webb’s retirement. Mr Brad Lines will be continuing in the role of DP – Senior School throughout Term 1, 2025.
Our teaching allocation is based solely on our student enrolments. If you are intending to cease your child’s enrolment prior to 2025, I ask that you please contact the admin office via phone or email so we can staff our school accordingly. Unfortunately, reduced students means a reduction in teaching staff, teacher aide, and administration staff in our office. Being informed about enrolment predictions supports our school in ensuring we have appropriate support in our school for every student.
2025 Timetable & Curriculum
We are currently collating the 2025 elective information that our students have submitted; this informs our timetable and classes for 2025. As a small school, we work incredibly hard to provide as many of the elective subjects for our students as possible. We are continuing to upskill our staff in subjects outside of their teaching area and co-design revised units of work that align with the Version 9 Australian Curriculum. We are working behind the scenes to write new units or work that enhance student engagement and, wherever possible, are relevant to our local context.
Week 10 Alternative Timetable
We have a range of activities occurring for our students in Week 10 with opportunities to participate in elective subjects in preparation for 2025, celebrations of positive behaviour activities, Junior Secondary Celebration, Laser Tag and some interhouse competitions. We look forward to delivering a highly engaging programs for our students prior to the holiday period. It is important to remind students that our Student Code of Conduct, inclusive of the school dress code and ‘phones off and away’ expectations will all still be in place.
Further details of the timetable are below in the Deputy Principal section.
I look forward to celebrating the final two weeks of the school year with our students in the coming days.
Warm Regards,
Elizabeth Mayo
Principal

Long Holiday Supports
Dear Students and Parents
We wish you a happy and safe school holiday break!
Christmas and the long holiday break are no doubt fun for families, but not all feel the same way. For some, this season can be very isolating and lonely. We encourage people to take proper care of themselves and look out for others who might need it.

Girls Group
This year at Girls Group it was all about self-reflection, growth, and gratitude: we journaled, practised mindfulness and self-care, made gratitude jars, built our self-confidence and team work skills with charades, role play and board games, and practised recognising and relying on our strengths to help us in uncomfortable social situations.
Another highlight from Term 3 saw us write “Letters to our future self” to receive at the end of year (these will appear in the mail over the holidays, so keep an eye out!!).
To close out a fabulous year of Girls Group 2024, in our last week we celebrated with Secret Santa to spread some holiday cheer. Huge thanks to all 16 girls who have participated in various Girls’ Group activities throughout the year – thank you for helping to make Girls Group a safe, supportive, and positive space for everyone to enjoy.
Finally, a massive and heartfelt thank you to Sam Bennetts and Shubhi Trepathi from Lifeline, Bonnie Smith from the Charleville Neighbourhood Centre, and Mel Doolan, our fabulous School Based Youth Health Nurse, for all your support and involvement with Girls Group this year! 😊
