Principal Report
Our 2024 Improvement Agenda has 2 key focus areas:
- Build capability of leaders throughout the school to lead school improvement
- Reinvigoration Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) to ensure high standards of student behaviour and conduct
As a school and community, we will have multiple opportunities to review our successes from 2024 and consider what our next steps for school improvement will be in 2025. I encourage parents to consider their voice in this process to ensure that our school is meeting the needs of your children. We will be sharing a survey in Term 4 and will also provide the opportunity at an upcoming P&C meeting to discuss our improvement focus for 2025.
In addition to our improvement agenda, we will be continuing to design a new curriculum for our students that is aligned to the revised Version 9 Australian Curriculum. Information regarding the revised curriculum can be found on the Australian Curriculum Website.
Attendance
The attendance of students at Charleville State High School is an area requiring significant improvement in the months ahead. Myself and our leadership team will be engaging with parents to discuss individual student attendance rates and how we can work together to improve these.
We have a number of students who are arriving late, departing early and having extended weekends. Our school is currently ranked on the lower end in the Region for our whole school attendance.
I wish all of our students and their families a safe and enjoyable school holiday period and look forward to welcoming students back on site on Monday 30th September 2024.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Elizabeth Mayo

If you qualify, you will be issued a voucher which can be redeemed at any of the participating internet providers. The National Referral Centre will also be available to assist with contacting your chosen internet provider or providing follow-up support.
Art – Year 12
Our Year 12 Art students have been creatively applying our Virtual Reality technology.
Food Ladder
Charleville State High School is proudly the latest in a line of Food Ladder greenhouse's, thanks to funding from RESQ+. This greenhouse uses hydroponics to help students grow fresh food all year, such as leafy greens and tomatoes.
This new addition will link into a range of difference learning areas, students will learn about farming, plant care, and the importance of eating healthy. They’ll get hands-on experience growing their own food while supporting the school by providing ingredients for Hospitality.
The Food Ladder project not only teaches valuable life skills but also brings the school community closer by providing fresh produce and promoting healthy living.

ROUK Day
This year, our school entered the very first RUOK? National Student Art Competition, where Year 7 and 8 students across Australia were invited to create an artwork that responds to the question: What does an R U OK? conversation mean to you?
A poignant entry by one of our fabulous year 7 students was selected to represent Charleville SHS, and this student has agreed to anonymously share their artwork in our newsletter. A big congratulations to this student, and thank you for helping to spread awareness of the power of connection and conversation this R U OK? Day, and every day!
The Charleville SHS school community will also be spreading awareness to support R U OK? Day on Thursday 12th September with a ‘wear yellow’ free dress day, so please join us, along with the wider Charleville community, and get involved by wearing yellow and checking in with those around us to ask, R U OK?
P.S. See you at the free Community Pancake brekky at the Town Hall Park from 7am! 😊
