Principal’s Report
Looking forward to 2025
As a school, we have 2 key strategic documents that guide ongoing school improvement;
- Strategic Plan: 4-year plan to guide the long term direction of the school. This plan is created through consultation with students, staff and community and incorporates findings from the School Review. The Charleville SHS School review was conducted in 2023.
- Annual Improvement Plan (AIP) which outlines the Explicit Improvement Agenda for the school over a 12-month period.
We are currently working with key stakeholders to gain insights into the focus of our Explicit Improvement Agenda for 2025.
I am seeking your input via a brief parent survey, to determine what you value most and feel needs to be the next step in our whole school improvement. A survey link will be shared with you via your registered email address. I look forward to reading your responses in coming weeks to inform our 2025 agenda.
2025 School Calendar
I will be continuing to encourage increased attendance of students at Charleville State High School. We continue to be in the bottom third of the region for our whole school attendance, which impacts on our ability to enhance student outcomes. Attendance is about days at school but also pertains to students arriving late and leaving early/part way through the school day.
As a high school, we are working with our students to build the skills required to successfully enter the workforce, inclusive of arriving on time, completing the day and planning personal activities outside of the work/school day. When planning for time away, appointments and family holidays for 2025, please consider the 2025 school term dates which can be found at the below link.
Whilst some events are unable to be moved, we very much appreciate working with families to minimise disruption to learning and assessment periods whenever possible.
Regards
Elizabeth Mayo

Certificate II in Health Services
After a delayed start, 10 of our students ranging from Year 10-Year 12 got the opportunity to undertake a Certificate II in Health Services through Connect N Grow. Most have completed or nearly completed the Cert II and some have begun working on a Cert III with the hope of a traineeship in health in 2025.
Well done to the students and staff in making this happen this year. Special mention to Mel Doolan for supporting the students with the course.
